A short essay on the game of Risk

For a multimedia class on Flash animation, we were given the assignement to analyze an existing non-digital game, summarize its rules, and explore an alternate rule variation. I wrote on the game of Risk.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and biomedical research ethics

I wrote an essay on a book titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks; the essay discusses issues of biomedical research ethics, race, class, and patients' rights to determine how their bodily tissues are used and to participate in any profits gained from those tissues. I submitted it for an essay college in the San Diego Community College District and I am happy to say I won FIRST PRIZE. The essay contest had format and length requirements so it is a brief essay. For more on this subject I recommend you read the book and other great works that are out there.

On the 2009 College Football Championship game

This is an opinion I posted to The Guardian (UK) in response to an article on sportsmanship and the 2009 College Football National Championship game. (The game was played in January 2010 at the end of the 2009 season.)

On Arizona SB 1070

The state of Arizona has passed a law called "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act" (Arizona SB 1070). This law reinforces existing federal law by making it a state misdemeanor to be in Arizona in violation of existing Federal immigration laws. It also cracks down on people who shelter, hire, and transport illegal aliens. I have written an essay on this law.

On Light

This really isn't an essay; its a collection of quotes I like regarding light. Capturing the light is the essence of photography, after all. I hope you will find them inspiring.
